Xacuti Mutton Ribs Curry

I was in Goa early this month and brought back the Xacuti masala. It is a traditional Goan masala, quiet close to malavani in look and smell. I did make this dish with a little twist of my own.



  1. 250 gms mutton ribswpid-img_20151024_122733.jpg
  2. 2-3 spoon white wine
  3. 1/2 cup thick coconut milk.
  4. salt
  5. xacuti masala – 3 spoons
  6. garlic – 5 cloves
  7. 2 large green chillies.
  8. butter, a dab
  9. olive oil


  1. In a large sauce pan, heat some olive oil and butter.
  2. Now add in all the mutton pieces and sear them.wpid-img_20151024_122949.jpg
  3. Just squash the garlic and slit the green chillies and throw in the pan.wpid-img_20151024_122921.jpg
  4. When done searing, add masala and salt. and deglaze with white wine.
  5. Let the wine evaporate. This will give a sweet hint to the meat.wpid-img_20151024_123108.jpg
  6. Add the coconut milk and cover with lid.wpid-img_20151024_123032.jpg
  7. Cook for about 15 minutes, till the meat is tender.
